ISILIK dampened boring bars make it possible to maintain good productivity and close tolerances for long tool overhangs.

Application guide

  • Minimize the tool overhang and select the largest possible bar diameter in order to obtain optimum stability and accuracy.
  • Clearance between the boring bar and the inside of the bore is extremely important for chip evacuation and to avoid radial deflection.
  • Due to the design of the turret in a CNC lathe, the rigidity is usually reduced, so for the best result, ensure a clamping length of minimum 4 x Dm.
  • For the best performance of the boring bar, the contact, design and dimensional tolerance between tool and tool holder are important factors. The best stability is obtained with a holder that completely encases the bar.
  • Cylindrical holder with screws are not recommended.
